This hat is a journey into color: a simple structure, worked in the round means you can quickly memorize a pattern you can return to and modify time and time again. Keep things simple with one color, perhaps with a contrasting pompom, or step into a little color work, with a simple one stitch color change that keeps things gentle as you learn the art of working two colors of yarn. Instructions included are for those of you ready to work in the round or with steps for knitting flat before seaming.

PATTERN specs

NEEDLES: US10.5/7mm + 16in/40cm circular needle (or size to obtain gauge) + 1 set of five US10.5/7mm double-pointed needles (or size to obtain gauge). Alternatively the hat can be worked using the Magic Loop technique with a 32in/80 cm circular needle throughout.

TENSION/GAUGE: 20.25 stitches & 19.25 rnds = 4inch (10 cm) in cable pattern

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS: Circumference: approximately 17.5 (19, 20.5)” or 44.5 (48.5, 52) cm. Height: 8.5 (9.5, 10)” or 21.5 (24, 25.5) cm.

Care: Gently hand wash colours separately in cool water. We recommend alternating hanks as you work to give an overall blended appearance.
